The “functional food” flaxseed, is one of the best sources of alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid that supports heart and brain development in your baby. Like all plant-based foods, it is rich in antioxidants that help remove free radicals from the body and a valuable source of dietary fiber.
Though a culinary spice, ginger is loaded with medicinal properties. On top of its more commonly known antiviral and antibacterial properties, ginger promotes the secretion of saliva and gastric juices which can improve your child’s appetite and digestion and has a calming effect on the stomach.
Introducing new foods to your baby’s diet can be a little discomforting due to their fragile digestive system. Using food as a remedy, mint is a very good way to naturally take care of problems like indigestion, nausea and stomach cramping.
Sweet Potato
Babies love this naturally sweet-tasting root. Sweet potatoes provide a good source of potassium, vitamin C, dietary fiber and beta-carotene which support overall cell health, brain, muscle and vision development while boosting immunity and healthier skin in your little one.
